Strategic Overview

Why Jakarta Matters in 2027

Diamond Open Access represents a scholar-led, community-owned publishing architecture free of author-facing article processing charges (APCs) and reader subscriptions. Following summits in Toluca (2023), Cape Town (2024), and Bengaluru (2026), the IV Global Summit in Jakarta provides the vital operational bridge translating global recommendations into measurable national and institutional execution.

Indonesia operates one of the world’s largest ecosystems of institutional and scholar-led Diamond journals. Hosting the Summit at the National Library of Indonesia (Perpusnas) connects frontline Southeast Asian stewardship with worldwide infrastructure networks, ensuring knowledge preservation as a protected public good.

Core Thematic Focus

Three Interconnected Pillars

1. Quality

Editorial standards, inclusive quality assurance, peer-review innovation (Publish-Review-Curate / PRC), responsible research assessment, and open multilingual metadata discovery.

2. Integrity

Ethical scholarly workflows, responsible AI governance with strict human oversight, data transparency, rights retention policies, and safeguards against predatory practices.

3. Sustainability

Predictable public-interest funding models, community-governed digital infrastructure, digital preservation networks, workforce stability, and protection against commercial buyouts.
